  1. Howdy! I love your site and am a big fan of abandoned places. I just visited the Las Vegas boneyard two weeks ago and was swept off my feet! I've put a link to your site on my blog. This is the address: http://eccentricroadside.blogspot.com/.

I'm going travelling on my motorbike soon, for a couple of months to just get away from everything, and the location of these sites is proving very useful in planning my route.

  10. Hello Artificial Owl,
Great website! You might already know about this but there is a really cool abandoned "cement" ship transporter that crashed up on the coast of the Santa Cruz County.

Oh, and since I'm in the middle of grad school studying digital archiving, I couldn't help noticing that the word 'archive' is mistyped on your website tabs.

I can send you some pictures I've taken if you are interested.

  11. Wendy, The Misspelled tab is corrected (how did I never see that?) And yes I'm interested by your pictures of the cement ship.

    Thank you.

  12. Hello, just a quick note to say that I read about your site through Moby's blog, and have spent literally days exploring it ever since!

I love the idea of secret abandoned places that one is not supposed to see, and the clear passion you have for your subject is wonderful to see.

Thanks for doing it, and keep up the good work!

  13. I love your site, the photos are amazing. I wanted to give you some info on another abandoned building. The building is in Kalamazoo Michigan and it is an old psychiatric hospital. I went to college in Kalamazoo and saw it all the time. It looked as if the people just picked up and left. Leaving everything where it was. Check it out.

  17. I just stumbled upon your site today. Wow! 2 hours later and I'm still here. I love this kind of stuff. I hope you can trade links with other sites that specialize in certain items and places. One site that I've visited often over the years is Abandoned & Little-Known Airfields.

  20. Awesome blog, very very cool.

Bit a strange story but it IS abandoned..

    "The castle of Almere, Netherlands"

This "Castle" was built but never finished. It has been abandoned for more than 8-9 years now or something...

You can google for "kasteel almere" for more shots... there where people who went inside and took pictures but I can't find those at the moment..

    See ya!

  21. Hey! I am from New Zealand currently having a gap year in London, love your site - keep it up. You probably know about the main UK site that encourages exploration but for those who are unaware 28daylater.co.uk and the New Zealand version slackninja.com - New Zealand has some pretty fantastic asylums that are abandoned and make great photography. Thank Artifical Owl for keeping me occupied at work :) - Orchid.

  22. Great Site. Should be working but got tangled up in looking at all the great photos of all those mysterious places.
Is it possible that the abandoned prison island Goli Otok in Croatia is not up yet (www.goli-otok.com)? I can provide some photos from last year if you want.
