Highgate tube station is a London Underground station on Archway Road, Highgate, not far from Highgate Village in north London.

The present low-level station was built in the late 1930s as part of London Underground's Northern Heights plan. It is just part of the planned station but the advent of the Second World War postponed parts of the project and eventually led to its cancellation. The low-level station was built directly below the existing high-level London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) station.

Because of the hilly terrain, the station was built in a deep cutting excavated from Highgate Hill adjacent to Archway Road. Tunnels penetrated the hillside at each end of the station, leading to East Finchley to the north and Crouch End to the south.

The original name of the Mediterranean Sky was City of York when it was built in 1952 in Newcastle, England. The Cruise liner departed London in November 1953, and maintained its service until sold to Michael A. Karageorgis, Piraeus in 1971, when she became the Mediterranean Sky. Her last voyage was in August 1996, when she sailed from Brindisi to Patras.

Due to the companies’ financial situation, the Mediterranean Sky was arrested in 1997, whilst in Patras. She remained in Patras until 1999, when she was towed to Eleusis, and laid up and was virtually abandoned. Then, in late November, 2002, she began to take on water and began to list.

In order to stop her sinking, she was towed to shallow water and was grounded. In January 2003, Mediterranean Sky keeled over on her side in Eleusus Bay. She remains there awaiting her fate.

The building was originally the city's main post office. A tunnel between the warehouse and the Michigan Central Station across the street shuttled mail brought in from all over the country by train. After a few decades of use, the post office moved and the Detroit Public Schools purchased the warehouse for their main depository of school supplies and records. As many as 75 to 100 people worked there at any given time.

On March 4, 1987, at 9:20 a.m., a fire broke out at the Roosevelt Warehouse. It spread rapidly through stacks of books on the third floor. More than 100 firefighters spent hours dousing the flames with thousands of gallons of water, but the building was effectively destroyed. At the time, school officials measured the damage at "several million dollars for the contents alone."

According to Reginald Ciokajlo, then superintendent of support services, the district was lucky that most of that year's textbooks and materials had already been delivered and none of the principals had placed their orders for the next school year's textbooks. School and student records going back to 1918 were destroyed.

After the fire, the Detroit Public Schools abandoned the Roosevelt warehouse and eventually started storing supplies at a new location.

The Dimitrios is beached near the city of Gytheio.
Gytheio : (Greek, Modern: G??e??, Ancient/Katharevousa: G??e???) (Meaning: Land of the Gods), also Gythio, Githeio, Githio or Yithion is a town in the prefecture of Laconia in Greece, long known as the seaport of Sparta some 40 km away. Gytheio used to be an important port for many centuries until it was destroyed by an earthquake.

This is an abandoned oil drilling rig that was operational in the late '60s and early 70's. At the centre is the main power unit, a V16 Caterpillar engine. Erected by hopeful entrepreneurs long before the National Park was actualyl proclaimed. Today, it provides a perfect nesting area for birds during the breeding season.

The Futuro house was a product of post-war Finland, reflecting the period's faith in technology, the conquering of space, unprecedented economic growth, and an increase in leisure time. It was designed by Suuronen as a ski cabin that would be “quick to heat and easy to construct in rough terrain.”

The end result was a universally transportable home that had the ability to be mass replicated and situated in almost any environment.

By the mid 1970s the house was taken off the market, arguably due to poor marketing, but primarily due to the Oil Crisis where tripled gasoline prices made manufacture of plastic extremely expensive. It is estimated that today somewhere between 60 and 100 of the original Futuro homes survive.

The wreck of the Olympia (which ironically was previously called 'Inland') and was apparently crashed here by pirates. It is The shipwreck seen in the movie "Le Grand Bleu"/ "The Big Blue".
